NaNoWriMo!

Or, National Novel Writing Month. It’s where people throw together 50,000 words, hope those words make sense when put together and call it a novel. It happens in November.

Fun fact, that one story I did with the psychic, government agents, a girl named Felicia, and what-not was supposed to be a novel, but since the entire thing was created on a whim, I didn’t have enough material for it.

This time, I won’t be stupid enough to only have one real copy of the thing and lose it in a hard drive crash.

(I’m not rewriting it, it’ll be something new this year.)

Yeah. So the DHCP server wasn’t fixed today, so I started to wonder if it was just me, apparently it was. So… long story short, okay, maybe it’s not long, but it sure is confusing, I figured out the IP I was always assigned from the DHCP server and used that and now I don’t have to use the proxy. Yay.

I feel like Macgyver

…except totally not. The DHCP server for some part of the SBC network (which I’m connected through) is down so I had to manually assign myself an IP in order to get back online. Sadly, this means I’m on gimpy proxy access until they fix the DHCP server so I can authenticate my MAC address.

Ansell’s birthday is/was today.

It’s raining outside.

A few minutes ago it was really heavy and thundering and all that jazz. Very nice.

Work on ESG is coming along nicely. I got a chat thing up, because it was a half decent suggestion. It was only five bucks, too, so it wasn’t all that expensive. I enjoy this kinda thing… even if I don’t have many visitors or anything yet. :D

Wants… and other random stuff

I kinda want a MacBook Pro, still. The only reason is that I’m itching to learn the ropes of another OS. It’s a very geeky reason, but it’s still a good one to me. Too bad no one’s going to be funding me anytime soon.

My beatmania side is pleading for me to buy a PS2 and Guitar Hero I/II. Simply put, it’s like playing an air guitar, but it’s plastic, and you’re playing along to actual music (and if you screw up notes, there actually is no guitar part wherever you messed up… so if you screwed up that power chord, you’re not hearing it). The second rendition because it’s newer and it has Foo Fighters. I’m a sucker for Foo Fighters. The first because it’s also awesome, even if I hardly know any songs (okay, I don’t really know anything else on the second one other than Foo Fighters. >_>) And getting a PS2 means I can actually play the DDR game I bought (and brought to Sg.) in the States (yes, while I didn’t have a PS2). And I think I still have We <3 Katamari somewhere around here.
Another geek thing I want is a dedicated server, it’s about $60 USD a month, and I definately don’t have that kind of money on me. Maybe when I get a job whilst back in college in the States.

Currently considering (in alpha. order): Azusa, Baylor, Rice, UTD

- Azusa both scares and interests me because of how it’s in California, which makes me away from my home state and closer to Canada.
- Baylor and UTD are cool because I think it should be easier reapplying (did an application to both last year).
- Rice is there because Houston is awesome and it’s fun aiming high. Oh and I would totally want to live slightly off campus somewhere so I could stay all year round. >_>

Apparently Xboxes make good media centers. Hm.

olol reading in between the lines is subjective and confusing

My eyes hurt and I’m pretty sure I have a very sligh fever. At least I have the week off.

On the eyes front, I’m having trouble looking/moving them in different directions. I thought it may have been the fever messing with me, but there may be something else to it. Anyway, yeah, so if my eyes aren’t looking where my head is facing I get this wondreful pain. :|

Um…

It’s taken me a better part of the day to actually get a Windows CD to actually cooperate with my laptop long enough that it’ll install XP.

I had to resort to using my original XP disk, as in, no service packs or fancy bells, etc.

Hopefully, it’ll work this time round. (And this is why I usually reformat once every 1-1.5 months.)

By the way, I’ve convinced myself I want a Canon PowerShot SD600, it’s only $231 on Amazon with free shipping, but they won’t send it outside of the States. :|

Unfinished Business

This past weekend I really figured out some things that were bugging me. This whole “moving back to Singapore for a year” thing has been really shaky for me. I mean, sure it’s great to be back, see old friends and all, but there was/is always that something nagging at me about the States.

I didn’t build a raft. :p

Okay, fine, I don’t remember what any of the letters stand for, but one thing that keeps sticking out, becuase I didn’t do a very good job of the situation the last time I left the States, was that there was so lose ends I hadn’t wrapped up. I had no idea I’d be where I am now at this point in time, and I suppose that’s just screwed up alot of things. I’m just having trouble moving on in some aspects of life.

Hrm…

I’m not sure how to say this, but I just found Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift really entertaining. The transition scenes and filming was all really well done and probably my favorite parts of the movie. (I think I almost sound like Dhany, except she would know what the proper term for what I’m talking about is.) Also, accroding to IMDB, all the drifting was done in real life and not via CG, and those are really impressive scenes. The movie kinda reminded me of Initial D especially the mountain and the car used at the final race. The drama was better than I expected, though it was all for a girl, per usual.

So, alot better than I expected. :p
